Spanish Riding School

The Spanish Riding School in Vienna is the only institution in the world which has continually practiced and cultivated classical equitation in the Renaissance tradition of the Haute Ecole – which can also be found on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity - for more than 450 years.

The Spanish Riding School’s objective is to preserve this institution including its historical premises such as the Stallburg - which houses 72 of the famous white Lipizzaner stallions and is Vienna’s oldest and most important Renaissance building – as a worldwide unique cultural heritage for future generations and to protect, conserve and manage it for the enjoyment, enrichment and benefit of everyone. To this end, the LBI ArchPro and the SRS will jointly drive forward the safeguarding of one of Austria’s most important cultural heritage using the institute’s unique pool of state-of-the-art equipment and expertise in digital documentation, visualization and dissemination.
